Writing for online media is a happy place for me. I relish the community aspect of online media and the challenge of integrating new technical and creative advancements. And I'm passionate about my subject matter, both personally and professionally. Born and raised in Ireland, I attended university at Trinity College Dublin, also the alma mater of my literary hero, Samuel Beckett. I went on to complete my MA in Philosophy at University of Calgary, specializing in Philosophy of Mind and Aesthetics. After my MA, I returned to Ireland. During this time, I joined the Gallery of Photography and the National Photographic Archives and apprenticed in their black-and-white photography studios. Also at this time, I undertook the feat of immigrating to Canada. In 2003, I finally made the leap. Over the next three years, I settled in Toronto and became a Canadian citizen. Working at Canwest Digital Media, I launched a new area of original online content, writing three original columns a week for over a year and building a loyal return readership. I now manage the editorial strategy of Canwest's online classifieds products. While focused on editorial strategy and business goals, I remain passionate about writing. From academia to journalism, writing has always been my thing. I'm an enthusiastic blogger (Ill Seen, Ill Said) and accept freelance work, be it marketing materials, PR, blogging or magazine writing. |
